UniUI is built with privacy by design. Student data is encrypted, opt-in, and NDPA-compliant. No individual student data is ever shared without consent.
Privacy by design.
UniUI collects only the data needed to deliver the service. Everything else is opt-in.
Account data
Institutional email, display name, and campus. Required to create and secure the account.
Academic content
Notes, past questions, formulas, study groups, and tasks. Owned by the student. Used only to deliver personalized study features.
Usage data
Study session length, question attempts, and feature usage. Used to improve the product and generate aggregated insights only with opt-in.
Device data
Device type, OS version, and app version. Used only for debugging and compatibility. Never linked to identity without consent.
No secondary uses without consent.
Every use of student data is tied to a specific, disclosed purpose. No hidden processing. No hidden buyers.
To deliver the service
Notes, questions, formulas, study groups, and AI answers are delivered using the student's own data. This is the core purpose and it requires consent.
To improve the product
Aggregated, anonymized usage patterns help us fix bugs, prioritize features, and improve AI accuracy. No individual student is identifiable in this data.
For institutional insights
Only when the institution and student both opt in. Aggregated engagement and performance trends at cohort level. No individual records.
For communications
Product updates, deadline reminders, and creator program news. Students can opt out of marketing at any time without losing access.
Full control over your data.
Under NDPA, every student has rights over their personal data. UniUI makes those rights easy to exercise.
Right to access
Request a copy of all your data at any time. Exports are provided in JSON or CSV within 7 days.
Right to correction
Fix any inaccurate data in your profile or academic records. Corrections propagate to all derived views within 24 hours.
Right to erasure
Delete your account and all associated data. No retention beyond what is required by law. No dark patterns to discourage deletion.
Right to portability
Export your notes, questions, and study history in open formats. Take your academic life with you.
Right to object
Opt out of aggregated insights, institutional dashboards, and marketing communications at any time. No penalty for opting out.
We keep it only as long as needed.
UniUI does not hoard data. Retention periods are defined, documented, and enforced automatically.
Active accounts
Data is retained for the duration of the student's active account plus 12 months after last login.
Deleted accounts
All personal data is purged within 30 days. Anonymized academic content may be retained for research with explicit consent.
Backups
Encrypted backups are retained for 30 days for disaster recovery. Backup data is not used for any other purpose and is purged on schedule.
Legal holds
If required by law or valid legal process, data may be retained beyond standard periods. Students are notified unless legally prohibited.

UniUI uses minimal cookies and no third-party advertising trackers. Here is what we use and why.
Essential cookies
Session tokens, CSRF protection, and security cookies. Required for the app to function. Cannot be disabled.
Preference cookies
Theme, language, and accessibility settings. Optional. Disabling them does not break the app but may reset preferences.
Analytics
First-party analytics only. No Google Analytics, no Facebook Pixel, no advertising networks. Aggregate usage data to improve the product.
Transparent updates.
If we make material changes to this privacy policy, we will notify students by email and in-app notification at least 14 days before the changes take effect.
Minor clarifications and legal updates may be made without individual notice, but the updated policy will always be available at this page with a revision date.
